Innovative adhesive solutions for laser production

11-08-2025 | DELO | Industrial

Laser technology is shaping the future of industrial manufacturing by facilitating greater precision and faster production rates, utilising fewer materials and resources. Reliable, high-performance laser systems are vital in meeting these demands. As laser components become more miniaturised, advanced adhesive solutions are becoming increasingly important for joining these components.

Laser applications are being employed in ground-breaking production processes and are conceivable to develop into a universal tool that can be used across a variety of industries. As quality standards and power needs increase, advanced laser systems are expected to satisfy these needs, posing considerable challenges for laser manufacturers. Highly specialised adhesives deliver innovative solutions where conventional joining methods reach their limits and are insufficient.

Precise positioning and alignment of Fast Axis Collimator Lenses (FAC) and Slow Axis Collimator (SAC), mirrors and prisms using an active alignment process is vital to meet the quality standards needed by laser manufacturers. Specially developed epoxy adhesives from the DELO KATIOBOND family are suitable for this purpose. These adhesives are both light- and dual-curing (light and heat) and exhibit high resistance to laser beams, low and controllable shrinkage, low outgassing and maintain precision performance over their whole lifetime. In active alignment processes, optical components can be fixed in one to five seconds, allowing efficient processing with shorter production cycle times.

Adhesives from the DELO PHOTOBOND family are ideal for the optimal housing sealing of laser systems. They can be utilised for applications such as Cured in Place Gasket (CIPG) for reliable seals or Formed in Place Gasket (FIPG) for the secure fastening and sealing of the housing sealing.

The company will be presenting these adhesive solutions, and other new high-tech solutions for laser assembly, at the China International Optoelectronic Exposure (CIOE) 2025 in Hall 1, Stand 1A83, in Shenzhen, September 10-12, 2025.
