New compostable film bids to keep plastics out of landfills

In today’s world, many are looking for 'greener' ways to approach packaging. Cortec Corporation has introduced viable packaging options that can make the 'circular economy' a reality. The company has launched EcoShrink Compostable Film, a commercially compostable alternative to conventional plastic shrink wraps used in industrial packaging applications.

The film is sourced from certified commercially compostable resins and contains 45% biopolymers. After use, it can be disposed of in a commercial composting environment to decrease the amount of plastic packaging that frequently ends up in a landfill. The film is shelf and curb stable and will retain its integrity until disposed of properly.

In addition to its 'green' benefits, the film has many practical characteristics. It is created for standard heat-shrinking applications. Users of the film can shrink wrap their small or large components as normal to conform to the shape of the object. The film provides an excellent way to keep dust, dirt, and moisture off warehouse stock while keeping components bundled into a streamlined package. Shrinkwrapping can be done with a broad variety of standard shrink tools.

The film is available in 2 or 4mils (50 or 100µm) thicknesses and as single wound or centrefold sheeting in widths of 18” (45.72cm) or 36” (91.44cm). Rolls come individually boxed or in cradle packed pallets.
