Infotainment connectors eliminate need for two connection systems

Molex's stAK50h infotainment connector system, available now from Digi-Key, incorporates unsealed hybrid connectors to deliver both signal and Ethernet connectivity through one low-footprint connector. They are offered in 28, 32, and 56-circuits-loaded options for power, signal, and wire-to-board application. They are available in pitch-mating interfaces of 2mm and 4mm and color choices of light green, light gray, dark gray, and black. When OEMs utilize different terminal strategies and designs, complexity is added to the end-design of the connector interface. The system is the ultimate interconnect solution when OEMs insist on industry-approved 0.50mm and 1.2mm terminal interconnects. The complexity is driven by receptacle terminals chosen to fit ‘AK-based’ terminal cavities in the receptacle housings for a variety of connectivity needs. This system can be used in high-density, low-current signal (4A) and Ethernet communication applications. Infotainment systems have traditionally relied on two separate connector systems: one for signal and one for Ethernet connectivity. Both signal and Ethernet connectivity is processed through just one connector interface, eliminating the need for two separate connection systems. They are compliant to USCAR-2 and global automotive OEM standards enabling faster time-to-market.
