Powell Electronics now offers the Han-Modular Domino modules from Harting. The modular connector series enables a hybrid combination of transmission media within a single module. Just as a domino has two separate fields, a domino module is made up of two ‘cubes’. The mating face consists of two almost square areas in which larger contacts can also be accommodated. The cubes support the configuration of ‘customised’ connectors that are precisely tailored to the needs of a design. Power, signals, data, or compressed air, as well as pin and socket contacts, can be combined in one module. This opens up new possibilities for optimisation, including space and weight savings of up to 50%. At the same time, the CO2 footprint is decreased across the board, from the production of the connectors to their transport and use by the customer.
Han-Modular Domino modules are compatible with all the components of Harting’s Han-Modular series, the market standard for modular industrial connectors. Consequently, the Domino modules can be readily integrated into existing systems; existing frames, hoods and housings or connector modules can be used and complemented. A Han-Modular Domino module enables the transmission of power, signals, data, or compressed air, as male and female contacts can be combined in a single domino module.
Installers also benefit from faster assembly times. Due to the decreased connector size, assembly areas that are difficult to reach can be equipped more efficiently or even opened up for assembly in the first place, e.g. in the narrow installation space of rail vehicles. This greatly reduces assembly costs.
