The Vector firmware for Hardware Security Modules (HSM), MICROSAR HSM, has been officially certified according to ISO/SAE 21434. With this certification, the international software provider emphasises its commitment to delivering cybersecurity solutions that meet the highest international standards.
ISO/SAE 21434 is the standard for cybersecurity risk management in road vehicles. It ensures that vehicles meet stringent security requirements throughout their entire lifecycle.
The ISO/SAE 21434 certification of the MICROSAR HSM firmware confirms the usage of state-of-the-art processes in automotive cybersecurity. The product documentation supplies detailed integration instructions, allowing ECU developers to integrate the software efficiently and seamlessly into their systems. This certification also enables the successful meeting of the high requirements of the global supply chain for vehicle type approval. In addition to the Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS) certification, the company now also offers product-specific certification in accordance with ISO/SAE 21434 to support the implementation of UN Regulation No. 155 (R155).
HSMs are a central component of modern ECUs. They protect systems against unauthorised access and manipulation. The MICROSAR HSM firmware supplies cryptographic services and accesses the available hardware resources of the HSM. With basic cryptographic functions, secure key memory, and secure boot mechanisms, the firmware optimises the protection of ECUs against cyberattacks.
Modern vehicles are increasingly networked, permanently online and regularly receive over-the-air updates – similar to PCs or mobile devices. This also increases the risk of targeted cyberattacks. Reliable cybersecurity is, therefore, an indispensable key to safe vehicle development.
