Industrial AI camera portfolio expanded with IP69K protection

With the new IDS NXT oslo, IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH is systematically extending its range of high-performance AI cameras. The model combines AI with first-class image quality, video streaming and recording functions in a compact, industrial-grade housing – protected to IP69K standard, the highest degree of protection against the ingress of dust and high-pressure water.

The centrepiece of the new camera is a chip from Ambarella, already known from its sister model, the IDS NXT malibu. It allows compressed video streams in full 5MP sensor resolution (H.264, MJPEG) with over 25fps. The output occurs directly on the desired end device via RTSP protocol – without the diversions via an extra PC for analysis or visualisation. This makes the camera ideal for applications that need live images, including AI-based overlays.

Thanks to the integrated ISP, users also benefit from automatic features like brightness, lens distortion and colour correction. Together with the light-sensitive onsemi AR0521 sensor, this provides excellent image quality even in difficult lighting conditions.

"With IDS NXT oslo, we are launching a versatile AI camera that not only analyses in real time, but also enables direct streaming and recording. The robust IP69K housing, including M12 connectors, ensures reliable operation in the most demanding industrial or agricultural environments," explains Patrick Schick, product owner 3D and Vision Software at IDS.

As part of the company's complete AI system, IDS NXT oslo also provides perfectly matching components – from hardware to software. Users do not require expert knowledge of deep learning, image processing or programming.
