High current jumpers streamline high power PCB design

23-05-2025 | Stackpole | Power

In PCB layout and design, zero-ohm jumpers are critical to address routing challenges, facilitate alternate circuit paths, and enable testing and rework without needing additional components. However, in high-power applications, the current handling limitations of traditional thick film jumpers – typically rated for up to 3A, and at most 10A for enhanced versions – become a bottleneck.

For designers creating power-dense, thermally constrained systems, the Stackpole Electronics' HCJ Series offers a purpose-built solution. The series is designed to supply continuous current ratings up to 70.7A and withstand overloads up to 158A, outperforming conventional jumper options.

Given their exceptional performance characteristics, HCJ jumpers are ideal for usage in:

  • Switching Power Supplies
  • Voltage Regulator (VR) Modules
  • DC-DC Converters
  • Battery Management Systems (BMS)
  • Li-ion Battery Packs and Charging Circuits
  • Motor Drives and Industrial Controls
  • Telecom and Networking Power Modules
