Mouser now ships the Type2BP UWB module from Murata. The Type2BP UWB module is excellent for the wireless enablement of larger infrastructures, including access control, indoor positioning anchors and payment terminals, and consumer products, such as televisions and gaming consoles.

The module is perfect for the growing ecosystem of spatial context awareness in IoT devices while streamlining wireless development by minimising the amount of RF expertise required to enable a wide range of applications wirelessly. The device is one of the smallest (6.6mm × 5.8mm × 1.2mm) UWB modules obtainable on the market and is based on NXP Semiconductors' SR150 UWB chipset, clock, filters and peripheral components. It provides low current consumption and comprises channels 5 and 9 support with enhanced and secure ranging along with various antenna support configurations (3D angle of arrival (AOA) or 2D AOA).

The Type2BP UWB module also provides integrated PHY and MAC functions designed to meet FiRa specifications to provide interoperability with a growing set of UWB devices.

The UWB module is supported by the UWB-Module-EVK evaluation kit, which is also available. This kit includes an integrated evaluation board featuring the Type2BP UWB module, the NXP QN9090 Bluetooth Low Energy SoC and a USB/JTAG interface. The kit is powered via a USB cable from a PC and comprises an integrated onboard PCB pattern patch antenna, a power circuit, an SWD connector and a level shifter. Apple approves this development kit to evaluate UWB-enabled accessories that leverage the company's Nearby Interaction Framework for spatial location.
