Hirose has extended its compact coaxial connector offering to support the automotive market better. Featuring gold-plated contacts for corrosion resistance and superior peeling strength utilising four ground contacts for shock and vibration resistance, the U.FL(K) Series coaxial connector offers long operational life in harsh environment applications.

Combining a low profile of just 2.5mm with excellent high-frequency performance, the U.FL(K) Series is commonly used in automotive applications, including antennas, audio, video and navigation, camera modules, telematics and more. The ultra-miniature footprint enables automotive designers to miniaturise the design or add more functionality in the same space.

The series offers a low VSWR of 1.6 Max. (DC to 8GHz). Measuring only 3mm x 3.1mm, the coaxial connector series is pick and place compatible to simplify the assembly process. A clear tactile click improves operability and confirms correct mating.

“Hirose invented the industry standard U.FL connector design that is used globally in wireless technology. With the introduction of the U.FL(K) version, Hirose continues our history of downsizing connectors while increasing performance and reliability to meet application-specific demands,” said Mark Kojak, senior VP of Sales and Operations for Hirose Electric USA. “This automotive micro coaxial connector gives designers more options to meet challenging size and functionality application requirements.”
