New phone jack series offers full- or half-threaded options

Omni Pro Electronics now offers Io Audio Technologies’ new Tiny Jack (TJ) series of horizontal PCB 1/4" phone jacks. The series is offered with full or half-threaded nose options to accommodate various panel thicknesses. The series offers a slim design with a high packing density in black, plastic housing for audio and control.

The series delivers a switched-contact design making them suitable for design-in applications where the termination method is to a PCB and where the independent control of switched contacts is needed.

The compact form factor of these connectors makes them relevant in situations where space saving is a priority or space for a connector is restricted. Both versions fit an 11.4mm chassis cut-out. The full-threaded version is offered with silver-plated pins in 4-pin mono-switched (IO-TJ4HF) and 6-pin stereo-switched (IO-TJ6HF) options and half threaded in IO-TJ4HH and IO-TJ6HH.

The jacks features three normally closed switched contacts and an operating temperature of -25C to +70C. They offer an insertion force of 5-30N, with a lifetime of 5000 mating cycles. The contact resistance is <30mOhm; insulation resistance is ≥100MOhm, and dielectric strength of 500VAC @ 60s.

Typical application areas include installations, communications, pro AV, and medical.
