Achieving high performance with pre‐configured cable assemblies

Amphenol RF now provides pre‐configured 2.92mm cable assemblies developed on flexible 0.85" conformable cable. This assembly is offered in the straight plug (male) to straight plug (male) configuration in multiple standard lengths from 6" to 1m. The durable 2.92mm assembly offers an excellent solution for demanding applications needing high-frequency transmission while providing high mechanical stability and excellent repeatability. It is ideal for usage in many industries, including defence and aerospace, 5G wireless, and instrumentation.

The cable assembly is engineered with a tough RF interconnect similar to the SMA interface with a smaller internal body diameter and air dielectric to support a higher frequency range of up to 40GHz. The gold‐plated, stainless-steel connectors are intermateable with SMA and 3.5mm connectors. The male pin is shorter than that of an SMA or 3.5mm to provide that the outer contacts of the male and female connectors engage before the pin and female receptacle do. This ensures that the pin and socket will not see excessive wear and mating stress by misaligning with an SMA or 3.5mm.

This flexible cable assembly provides for a tight bend radius while offering low VSWR and exceptional return and insertion loss. Also, this assembly delivers excellent power handling capability, which makes it an ideal solution for communication receivers and transmitters, SATCOM, laboratory testing and microwave applications.
