New improved instrument enclosures now more customisable

Metcase’s UNIMET and UNIMET-PLUS desktop and portable instrument enclosures now offer new, improved bezels that enhance the aesthetics and make them even more customisable.

Design engineers specify the enclosures for various applications, including medical devices, industrial control, test and measurement, switchboxes, peripherals and interfaces, communications and laboratory equipment.

The enclosures’ new bezels now include eight sections – four diecast corners, two horizontal and two vertical extrusions. This signifies that the enclosures can now be provided in custom heights as well as bespoke widths and depths. It makes them two of the company's most customisable models.

The new corner castings also provide other benefits, such as they are cast from zinc which enables finer tolerances and an even better fit and paint finish.

On the enclosures, the new bezel is constructed to a fabricated aluminium main case with a removable U-shaped top. Both also offer a removable rear panel that is recessed to shield connectors and switches.

Other characteristics common to the models include four non-slip rubber feet and the option to define a tilt/swivel carry handle that doubles as a desk stand. This indexable handle may be adjusted to the perfect viewing angle. Both enclosures are offered as standard in a light grey (RAL 7035) and window grey (RAL 7040) colour combination.

The models are available in six sizes: UNIMET, 230mm x 190mm x 50mm to 350mm x 260mm x 150mm; UNIMET-PLUS, 230mm x 193mm x 50mm to 350mm x 263mm x 150mm.

Accessories offered include front panel kits, PCB/panel fitting screws, a PCB mounting kit, PCB guide rails (UNIMET-PLUS only) and tilting/non-tilting case feet.

The company can provide these models fully customised. Services include custom sizes, custom front panels, fixings and inserts, CNC machining, painting and finishing, digital printing of legends and logos.
