New SMT component reel barcode decoding system

Accu-Assembly introduces the AccuID. This new bench top system has been constructed to easily create a unique Reel ID barcode label for each SMT component reel rather than having an operator scan one label at a time employing a hand scanner. The operator does not have to determine which barcode labels to scan, resulting in fewer scan errors. The device has a simple user interface: the operator places the reel in the system, and the scan begins automatically.

The camera on the device can decode all of the barcodes on the reel in approximately two seconds and then send the needed data to your database based on the prefix on each label. For example, 1P means supplier part number and Q means quantity. The decoding is omnidirectional, and device can decode down to 5mils on 1D barcode labels and down to 10mils on 2D barcode labels.

The software will emulate keystroke to send the label to any application on the user's PC in a pre-determined sequence, so no special software is needed in most cases. The software can interface with most existing SMT placement equipment systems.

Furthermore, the device can be employed for incoming inspection to confirm the accuracy of the barcode labels on the reel. Applications include creating and printing a unique SMT component reel ID barcode label for inventory systems, SMT placement equipment verification systems, and traceability.

The device can read multiple barcodes in any orientation on SMT component reels in a single pass. It can accommodate component reels from 7" to 15" diameter. Moreover, the low-cost system comes in a small footprint – desktop unit – 17" (W) x 15" (D) x27" (H).
