Congatec has introduced its new conga-TR4 COM Express Type 6 module with AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 Series processors developed for the industrial temperature range from -40C to +85C. The device is offered with optional burn-in and cold-soak stress screening service for the highest reliability. The most demanding graphics and compute workloads profit from the modules' four cores, eight threads and eight GPU compute units producing the well-reputed massive processing throughput of AMD's Zen microarchitecture in an ultra-rugged shape. The TDP is scalable from 12W to 25W, facilitating truly immersive 4k UHD system designs with passive cooling only.

The maximum performance of the new module depends on the environmental conditions, and it is specified with 1.6GHz to 2.8GHz turbo boost in the sub-zero temperature range, and 2GHz to a maximum of 3.6GHz in the positive temperature range. The powerful performance of the device has been made accessible in a real-time capable design and also incorporates real-time hypervisor support by Real-Time Systems for virtual machine deployments and workload consolidation in edge computing situations.

Typical applications for the new modules are in rugged edge computing with embedded vision and AI, autonomous vehicles, railcars and wagons, mobile ambulance equipment, broadcasting vans, outdoor equipment in the oil and gas industries, or security and video surveillance, as well as base station equipment for 5G, to name just a few.
