Linear Technology/Analog Devices DC2513A Demo Board evaluates high power density LTC7821EUH hybrid step-down synchronous converters. This board delivers 12V/20A with an input voltage from 36V to 72V. The architecture of LTC7821 merges soft-switching switched-capacitor topology with a conventional step-down converter to give excellent efficiency related to the traditional switching architectures. The powerful 1Ohm N-channel MOSFET gate drivers of LTC7821 maximise efficiency and can drive multiple MOSFETs in parallel for higher power applications. The external MOSFETs of the board switch at a 500kHz fixed frequency and can be programmed from 200kHz to 1.5MHz.

The Demo Board provides a clock output for multiphase operation, a power good output signal, and a monotonic output voltage start-up. This board also provides ±1% output voltage accuracy over temperature, optional external references, short-circuit protection, under-voltage lockout, and internal charge balance circuitry. The board offers a cost-effective solution for non-isolated intermediate bus applications in datacom, power distribution, and telecom as well as emerging 48V automotive systems.
