New power management IC for automotive control units

18-01-2018 | Allegro | Automotive & Transport

Allegro MicroSystems has a new power management IC that integrates a buck or buck/boost pre-regulator, four LDOs, and four floating gate drivers. The pre-regulator uses a buck or buck/boost topology to efficiently change automotive battery voltages into a tightly regulated intermediate voltage complete with diagnostics, control, and protections. The company's ARG82800 device is targeted at the automotive market with end applications to include EPS, TCU, and ABS. The output of the pre-regulator supplies a 3.3V or 5V selectable 350mA linear regulator, a 5V/100mA linear regulator, and two 120mA protected linear regulators which track VUC output. The device is ideal for under-hood applications, developed to supply power for microprocessors, sensors, and CAN transceivers, The device is supplied in a low-profile (1.2mm maximum height) 38-lead eTSSOP package (suffix “LV”) with exposed power pad for enhanced thermal performance.
