LED-based capacitive touch sensor displays with fast and intuitive interface

Mouser is now stocking the CTH Series capacitive touch sensor displays from VCC. Combining an integrated touch sensor IC with a high optical LED display, the series of capacitive touch devices provide a fast and intuitive display interface that offers an attractive cost savings by eliminating the need for a traditional switch. The robust design combines graphic interactive control with colour identification for use in a wide range of applications. The displays offer translucent icons illuminated with different coloured LEDs, and provide superior device interaction by communicating a singular action to users such as on/off, alarm status. The LED display produces uniform illumination and high optical clarity and are available with or without a wide variety of standard graphic overlays and colours. Unlike mechanical membrane switches or mechanical push buttons, the capacitive touch sensor displays have no moving parts, which improves reliability and increases operational life of the product. These compact displays also eliminate the need for designing-in a traditional switch, which saves on cost and simplifies the design process. The series provides a more intuitive interface to ease and accelerate user interactions for a broad array of applications including mobile communication devices, point-of-sale terminals, industrial control displays, gaming devices, appliances, consumer equipment, media players, medical devices, PDAs, portable instruments, and touch screen monitors. The RoHS and REACH-compliant devices feature a through-hole design and are offered in a standard size of 15mm × 15mm × 11mm with pitch of 2.54mm.
