Molex has introduced its new Brad HarshIO modules based on IO-Link technology which allows fieldbus and manufacturer independent connection of smart sensors and actuators to the network. "IO-Link enables the design of a new generation of industrial machines that require high availability and scalability, as well as extensive use of diagnostics for preventive and corrective maintenance," said Eric Gory, product manager, Molex. "The new Brad IO-Link family allows customers to take advantage of the benefits of a modular, distributed architecture in applications where this was not possible before." Designed primarily for industrial automation machine builders, the modules provide quick and reliable solutions for connecting industrial controllers to I/O devices in harsh environments. Featuring an IP67-rated housing to resist dust, liquid and vibration, on-machine mounting of the module eliminates the need for a protective cabinet. The patented Ultra-Lock push-to-lock connection system allows fast, safe, operator independent IP67-sealed connection of cordsets. The family is composed of IP67 PROFINET IO-Link master modules in 60mm format and IP67 IO-Link digital hubs. The PROFINET module features eight M12 ports and each port combines one IO-Link master channel and one configured digital I/O channel. The digital hub versions have 16 inputs or 12 inputs and four outputs. The daisy-chain wiring topology and integrated two-port switch with 100Mbps full duplex data transmission enables applications to be wired entirely without switches at lower cost. Advanced module features such as short-circuit protection, media redundancy protocol, web server and visible diagnostic LEDs offer ease-of-use and simple operation.
