Mouser Electronics, Inc. now ships the new BMV080 particulate matter sensor from Bosch. The BMV080 features small dimensions (4.4mm × 3mm × 20mm including flex PCB) and a fanless, non-intrusive design, making it a natural fit for ultra-compact wearable or IoT devices, including air-quality monitors, smart speakers, smart switches, smart thermostats, and smart air purifiers.
The particulate matter sensor is the world's smallest particulate matter (PM) air quality sensor, making it a perfect fit for ultra-compact IoT devices. Utilising VCSEL technology and sophisticated algorithms to measure the PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 mass concentration, the sensor provides precise measurement of PM mass concentration without needing a fan. The device's fanless construction also provides no fan-induced dust buildup, making this sensor more reliable and less prone to malfunction.
The Bosch Sensortec BMV080 Shuttle Board 3.1, also available from Mouser, is a PCB with the BMV080 sensor mounted on it to sense particulate matter (PM) mass concentration (PM2.5, PM1, and PM10). In combination with the Bosch application board 3.1, the BMV080 shuttle board can be employed to evaluate BMV080 output signals. This shuttle board enables easy access to the sensor pins via a simple socket and can be directly plugged into the application board.
