The ODU MEDI-SNAP is designed with patient and user safety as a top priority, making it an excellent solution for medical devices operating in electromagnetically active environments. EMC is crucial in preventing interference that could compromise sensitive diagnostic or therapeutic systems. A key yet often overlooked vulnerability lies in the connection between the device and components such as handpieces, sensors, or surgical tools. The connector addresses this risk directly, fully complying with IEC 60601-1 for patient and user protection, as well as IEC 60601-1-2 for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection, ensuring reliable performance and safety in demanding medical applications.
The connectors offer two protective measures (2MOPP/2MOOP) against electric shock, as required by IEC 60601-1. The use of touch-safe plastic housings and defined creepage and clearance distances ensure maximum safety. Thanks to innovative designs such as asymmetric contact arrangements and insulating sleeves, the company can implement these protective measures even in compact connectors.
The connectors offer 360° metal shielded feedthrough, preventing EMI from the outside and the conductive contacts inside. Tests conducted in independent laboratories according to IEC 61000-4-2 demonstrate that the company's solutions can withstand electrostatic discharges (ESD) of up to ±15kV in air and ±8kV in direct contact without sparking or interference.
MEDI-SNAP connectors are excellent for patient monitors, diagnostic devices, surgical systems or therapy devices. The combination of plastic housing and metal shielding provides maximum patient safety in a compact design with flexible customisation options.
This technology enables reliable and future-proof connections that accelerate development processes and ensure the highest safety standards – an essential prerequisite for modern medical technology applications.
