Mouser Electronics, Inc. now supplies the new Catan C1 EN building automation controller from Phoenix Contact. The controller simplifies smart room automation in hospitals, data centres, and commercial building applications.

The building automation controller, is programmed with an Arm Cortex-A53 processor (4x 1600MHz), connecting up to 16 external expansion modules via a SPE communication bus, including a flexible mix of 14 individually configurable inputs and outputs, for improved space and cost savings. The eight universal inputs are suitable for temperature sensors from 0V-10V interfaces and meters. The two universal and four digital channels can be set as outputs or inputs, and an optional plug-in touch display delivers support during local priority operation, commissioning and maintenance, and secure controller access.

The Catan C1 EB controller uses Phoenix Contact Emalytics software based on the Niagara 4 framework. This software incorporates the controller with building management systems utilising BACnet, KNX, Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, and other communications protocols. The controller features a managed Ethernet switch, including three Ethernet, two serial RS-485, and two USB Type-C interfaces for connecting a control panel and USB peripherals. It is also the first Niagara controller to have an onboard KNX-TP interface, with two SPE interfaces for multiple Catan extension modules.
