Range of enclosures for defence applications increased

Foremost Electronics has expanded its range of field-proven MIL-grade rugged enclosures, COTS components and HMI solutions, which offer users uncompromised reliability.

Recent additions to its enclosure and components portfolio bring together key players to offer customers value-added flexible solutions for rugged portable and fixed equipment.

At the heart of the new offering are NVent Schroff system enclosures, including VME, VPX, CPCi and small form factor variants. These can now be offered either as an individual chassis (including backplane, power and cooling) or as a solution with Kontron products, including SBCs; CompactPCI PICMG2.16 BLADE processors, Communication Transition Modules (featuring dual HDD sockets, dual Gigabit, Serial port and VGA); and industrial Ethernet switches. Note: These are also available as individual products.

Also, the company offers ruggedised server and computing solutions from Trenton Systems, including ruggedised COTS, MOTS and custom TAA-compliant servers. For a fixed installation, the system can be housed in an NVent Schroff Mil-Std cabinet: NVent Schroff Varistar CP MIL 901E Cabinet is defence-certified for shock, vibration, EMC, and corrosion. Doubly protected against corrosion, zinc-plated and powder-coated. There are four shock absorbers at the bottom and two at the top.

For portable applications, the company can provide the rapidly deployable and rugged MILEX transit case from Desapro: Water and dust-proofed, shock and vibration-absorbing aluminium transit case for 19” electronic equipment. They are NATO-approved and designed to fulfil the rigid requirements of US MIL specifications and other MIL standards worldwide.

A wide range of accessories are available for the MILEX case, including cooling systems, racks, drawers, and slides, which provide the most comprehensive range available today for the safe packaging of mobile electronics.

Dave Martin, new business director of Foremost Electronics, says, “We are the UK Platinum Partner for nVent Schoff and have a wealth of experience in providing bespoke, value-added systems based on their very wide product range. With several new synergistic additions to our portfolio, we can now provide fast turnaround fully functional computing systems in both fixed and portable rugged enclosures for defence systems.”
