New standard offers the next speed level for automotive Ethernet interfaces

Vector now supports the IEEE standards for Automotive Ethernet 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1 and 10GBASE-T1 in its VN5650 and VN5240 Automotive Ethernet interfaces. Users can initially configure the Vector Ethernet interfaces or extend their interfaces to MultiGBASE-T1 via new physical layer modules, facilitating simulation, analysis and tests for multi-gigabit applications.

A suitable physical layer module (VNmodule60) for the two Vector interfaces VN5650 and VN5240 supplies users with MultiGBASE-T1 support.

The MultiGBASE-T1 ports are freely configurable at 2.5GBASE-T1, 5GBASE-T1 and 10GBASE-T1. Thanks to the switches and TAPs in the interface, the ports can be flexibly combined with other Ethernet standards. This allows simple media conversion from standard Ethernet to MultiGBASE-T1.

The Ethernet uplinks with 10GBASE-T or USB3.0 are already available on the VN5650 interface to connect the Vector tools to the MultiGBASE-T1 network.

In future, the interface will support MACsec and OPEN Alliance TC10 (Wake/Sleep) for data streams in the multi-gigabit range through a software update.

The new physical layer module for MultiGBASE-T1 completes the flexible support of all relevant Automotive Ethernet physical layer standards from 10BASE-T1S to 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1. The modular design of the company's interfaces provides a flexible combination of all these standards.
