Raised element SMD high current shunts prove up to 10W power ratings

27-04-2023 | Stackpole | Passives

As power electronics develop, power control designs may need lower resistance values and higher power ratings to support higher currents produced. However, finding a reliable surface mount device with high power ratings and low resistance values can be challenging.

Stackpole Electronics HCS series raised element SMD current shunt resistors provides resistance values as low as 0.2mOhm and power ratings up to 10W, which allows the shunt to sense currents up to 224A. Also, TCR for the device is ±50ppm for a broad range of values, ensuring accurate sensing in various environments and under high current loading. Finally, the series is AEC compliant, supplying engineers with further assurance that they are designing in a robust, reliable component.

The series is an excellent choice for all high-power supplies and power modules, electric motor controls, fuel-powered engine controls, DC to DC converters in switching power supplies, frequency converters, voltage regulators, portable power management and battery monitoring.
