Powerful and compact SMD fuse for high current SELV applications

21-04-2023 | Schurter | Passives

Schurter has launched its new UHS, a compact fast acting SMT fuse developed to interrupt high-energy overcurrent in the SELV range safely. The new UHS is offered in six current ratings from 50-100A at 50VDC or 32VDC, with a breaking capacity of up to 2000A.

The growing usage of powerful lithium-ion battery cells with increased storage capacity at lower prices has necessitated a more cost-efficient, space-saving circuit protection solution. The challenge lies in fulfilling these growing demands while continuing to provide safety. Even within SELV, where voltage levels are considered safe for human contact, there remains a risk of dangerous high currents in the possibility of a short circuit.

The fuse is designed to perform in a range of temperatures, from -55C to 125C, making it appropriate for use in multifarious industries, including automotive, telecom, power tools, and data centres. It is RoHS compliant, UL approved, and bears REACH, CE, halogen-free, UKCA, and China RoHS markings, making it a reliable and environmentally friendly option for a wide range of high-energy electronic applications.
