Board-to-board connectors minimise mating-centring errors

The AX01/MA01, available now from Rutronik are a series of floating board-to-board connectors from Japan Aviation Electronics Industry (JAE). They combine a high transmission speed (8Gbps+) with floating contacts to minimise mating-centring errors. These connectors offer highly reliable components for the ADAS market, which is rapidly growing due to new regulations and legislation. They can be utilised in interference-sensitive applications that rely on real-time data transmission. These incorporate, for example, safety functions in vehicles (warning systems, cameras), navigation systems, audio and radio modules.

The connectors are offered in 88 combinations for each series, eight different styles (30-140), and 11 stacking heights (8-30 mm).

The AX01 and MA01 series provide a floating tolerance of ±0.5mm in the X and Y directions, providing for positional misalignment and misalignment compensation in automated assembly and mating processes.

The MA01 series connectors can be employed at automotive operating temperatures of up to 125C. The two-point contact structure provides a highly reliable high-speed connection and uninterrupted continuity, even if a foreign object blocks one contact point.

Also, a special cap that supplies extra protection to the mating area before use allows simple pick-and-place, which enables automatic assembly. The SMT design also allows uncomplicated assembly.
