Bent leaf lever versions of ultra subminiature basic switches

Omron Electronic Components Europe has released a new fully sealed, ultra subminiature microswitch delivering substantially higher operating and releasing forces than existing solutions.

The new bent leaf lever versions of the compact and flexible Omron D2GW microswitch increase operating force up to 1.5N and releasing force up to 0.1N.

As with existing variants of the devices, the new switches are completely sealed to IP67 (excluding the terminals on the terminal models) and function in temperatures of up to 85C. They maintain an extremely small size (8.3mm × 6.5mm × 5.3mm), supplying the smallest switch of its type in the industry.

The new models expand the options for applications subjected to water spray or high dust levels. The switches are excellent for vending machines, EV charging stations, smart meters, HVAC equipment, security systems, white goods, and similar applications where space is at a premium.

They keep the sliding-contact construction, providing the industry’s smallest size in its class – only 8.3mm x 6.5mm x 5.3mm. Also, the lever can now be mounted on the left or right side of the switch on the press-fit terminal and moulded lead-wire versions.

The switches provide a ground-breaking contact design to maximise performance. Sliding contact construction fulfils quiet operation and high contact reliability, wiping away dust or other impurities. It has double contacts, which help to improve reliability.

The device is delivered in various styles, with different mounting structures, actuators, and terminal specifications to maximise application flexibility. Further options incorporate press-fit terminals to allow solder-less PCB installation and solder terminals, PCB terminals, and moulded wire leads. The switch offers a symmetrical shape with the push button located in the centre, enabling levers to be added in each direction.
