Three new TFT displays with in-plane switching

Newhaven Display offers three new 4.3” TFT displays with In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology to its increasing LCD product line. With this advanced display technology, electrodes are arranged so that the liquid crystals inside the display rotate in parallel with the screen, rather than twisting and standing upright like with TN technology. IPS Displays offer truer colour reproduction, full viewing angles, better contrast, and sunlight-readable screens due to their brighter backlights. In addition, they show consistent, accurate colour from any angle and do not lighten or have tailing when touched, making them ideal for use in touchscreen devices.

These new 4.3” IPS displays offer a replacement option for the TN models due to their same mechanical footprint, pinout and 480x272 resolution. These IPS displays are also fully backwards compatible, and no software updates are required to make the switch. The added benefits of the new 4.3” IPS TFTs include improvements to EMC with built-in EMI shielding on a better FPC design and superior IPS technology. The three models to choose from each offer a different touchscreen option: capacitive, resistive or without a touchscreen. These IPS LCDs are all RoHS compliant and include a built-in SC7283 driver IC and 24-bit RGB interface.
