Advantech has released the TCG-OPAL compliant SQFlash 840F and 920F series. The series delivers excellent data security through hardware-based AES encryption. These advanced security features conform to FIPS 140-2 from the US NIST. Its SATA/PCIe SSDs provide superior performance, durability, and higher capacities to applications that handle sensitive data or require increased security.

Many legacy industrial systems fail to offer acceptable security measures. As cybercriminals evolve, finding secure storage solutions for government, healthcare, finance, and defence applications remains crucial. Currently, agencies in the US and Canada demand storage devices that satisfy security certifications to thwart data theft. To this end, FIPS 140-2 certification needs for storage products employed in the government/public sector will be enforced in three years. FIPS SED certified storage products satisfy US federal government secure storage requirements and comply with specified encryption algorithms, ensuring that SSD internal data handling procedures adhere to NIST standards. Certified solutions provide safe data storage to diverse security-sensitive infrastructure, healthcare, defence, and finance applications.

To fulfil the requirements of various applications, the series SSD products offer TCG-OPAL compliant AES-256 crypto-engines for advanced self-encryption. This encryption supports read and write protection control and market-leading in-the-drive multi-user and multi-secure zone authentication mechanisms. These features can be controlled utilising DeviceOn/SQ Manager’s security package obtainable on Linux or integrated into BIOS. Also, firmware is assigned a digital signature on firmware code to prevent unauthorised changes further the SSD’s root. These devices attain further stability through a power-on self-test of all cryptographic related hardware engines. Likewise, the product has physical tamper-proof protection to stop data theft from outside intrusion. These NIST certified devices are compliant with FIPS 140-2 Level 2 specifications, delivering a complete and effective security mechanism.
