High current four terminal shunt resistors for precision power monitoring

Low resistance values are essential for high-efficiency current sensing as lower values mean less wasted power on the current sensing measurement itself. But sensing low resistance values accurately becomes challenging due to lead resistance errors. A four-terminal shunt resistor eradicates the detrimental effects of lead resistance on the current sensing measurement operation.

The Stackpole Electronics HCSK1216 offers a 3W to 5W four-terminal shunt for precision current sensing performance that uses 75% less space than the 2725 size. It is offered in 0.5 and 1 milliohm resistance values in tolerances as low as 1% and 50ppm TCR.

Suitable applications include power management, power modules, hybrid power current sensing, engine and motor controls, battery charging, frequency converters, and PC graphics and motherboards.
