New 2 MOPP compliant IEC inlet EMC filters for medical applications

Schaffner has introduced the new FN9274 IEC filter series developed for medical applications.

The new filters have been created according to Class II medical equipment standard IEC / EN 60601-1. The filters provide product designers two MOPP safety protection 'out of the box', removing the need for any further EMC or isolation components. The filters include a plastic enclosure for higher dielectric strength insulation.

Applications include general medical devices, in-vitro diagnostic medical devices, intensive care environments, test and measurement and electrical and electronic equipment and audio/video and communication equipment (to IEC/UL 62368-1).

The filters use C18 inlet receptacles with no earth pin (according to IEC 60320) and are compatible with C17 V-Lock locking power cords to avoid accidental disconnection of power. The devices are offered in three mounting configurations, front panel mount, rear panel mount and snap-in fit and provide two termination styles provided for each configuration, fast-on connectors and wire leads for direct connection. They are rated to 4000VAC, with creepage/clearance of 8mm/5mm and are double insulated.

All new filters from the company are developed for a maximum continuous operating voltage of 250VAC, 50/60Hz and for nominal currents up to 15A. The filters have worldwide approvals in accordance with ENEC, CQC, UL and CSA and satisfy the requirements for RoHS and REACH regulation.
