CUI Devices’ Audio Group has added new digital I2S output models to its extensive line of MEMS microphones. The bottom port CMM-3526D-261-I2S-TR and top port CMM-4030D-261-I2S-TR are accommodated in extremely compact, low profile packages measuring 3.5mm x 2.65mm x 0.98mm and 4mm x 3mm x 1.25mm, respectively. Due to their digital I2S interface, these MEMS microphones remove the necessity for a codec, enabling the microphones to connect straight to digital signal processors and microcontrollers in an end application. This component savings and simplified integration make these microphones excellent for audio recording and voice capture in space-constrained designs, including smart home devices, smartphones, tablets, wearables, and more.

Both microphones are omnidirectional and feature -26dB sensitivity ratings, operating frequencies from 100Hz to 10,000Hz, and current consumption of 400µA. The CMM-3526D-261-I2S-TR further carries an SNR of 64dBA, while the CMM-4030D-261-I2S-TR provides an SNR of 59dBA.

As reflow solder compatible components, these MEMS microphones give designers extra flexibility where surface mount assembly is needed. Both models are also ideal for array applications employed to perform beamforming and noise cancellation functions due to their tight sensitivity tolerances of ±1dB.
