TDK Corporation has introduced the PXG-M series of medical and industrial 15W and 20W board mount DC-DC converters. Certified to the IEC 60601-1 and IEC 62368-1 standards for Medical and Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment, the series provides 5,000VAC reinforced isolation between input and output. With a broad input range, these compact board mount converters are ideal for a wide spectrum of medical, battery-powered equipment and industrial applications.

The series takes either a 9VDC to 36VDC or 18VDC to 75VDC input and is available with output voltages of 5, 12, 15, 24, ±5, ±12 and ±15VDC. Operation from 12V and 24V, or 24V and 48V nominal inputs lowers inventory carrying costs and enhances part availability.

Having the industry-standard 1.6" x 1" package size, the series measures 40.6mm x 25.4mm x 10.2mm. The operating ambient temperature is -40C to +105C, with de-rating above 55C for convection cooled environments, or above 90C with forced air cooling. Positive or negative logic remote on-off is optional. Over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature protection is standard on each model. Off-load input current consumption is only 12mA or less, making it ideal for battery-powered products.

The series has an input to output isolation of 5,000VAC (2 x MOPPs) and less than 2.5μA touch current. Safety certification incorporates IEC/EN 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives. No external EMI filtering components are needed for compliance to EN55011 A and EN55032 A.
