Advantech has announced its POC-624 24" medical-grade POC created for diverse healthcare applications. Offering an 8th gen Intel Core i5/i7-8665UE processor, the device is a high-performance, ultra-thin terminal that allows improved operational efficiency in hospitals, clinics, and care homes. Compliant with IEC 60601 safety standards for medical devices, the terminal is user-friendly and provides a decreased time-to-market with its compliance with applicable healthcare regulations.

Featuring an 8th gen Intel i5/i7-8665UE processor and integrated NVME SSD, which processes data seven times faster than traditional 2.5” SSDs, it facilitates real-time data processing and storage. With the incorporation of the Intel Wireless-AC 2x2 solution, the device transmits data more reliably and 12 times faster compared to conventional BGN 1x1 solutions.

The device offers a fanless design and is environmentally sealed in a specially produced plastic enclosure that helps regular sanitisation employing a mixture of disinfectants and sanitising agents to secure strict hygiene control. Furthermore, the whole system is IP54-rated for protection from water and dust ingress (front panel IP65), further enhancing user safety and contagion management.

Compliant with the IEC 60601-1 medical safety standard for electrical devices, the device is intended for reliable operation in a broad range of healthcare environments. Moreover, the system offers COM and LAN (1.5KV) ports furnished with isolation protection to guard against EMI or leakage, ensuring safe integration with existing infrastructure and equipment.

Supporting diverse applications, the terminal can be provided with optional value-added modules, including an RFID reader or a smart card reader for patient identification and an HD camera and sound bar module for telemedicine applications. The provision of an expansion slot supports add-on cards and customised I/O to be integrated to expand the system functionalities. Lastly, with the inclusion of an optional hot-swappable power system, the device can be employed to provide mobile healthcare in an extensive range of treatment settings.
