Decentralised junction box provides increased reliability with the design

TE Connectivity’s SOLARLOK PV Edge decentralised junction box, available now from RS Components, is claimed to be the first clamping and non-potting junction box in the market employing the edge as a relevant position for the mounting without drilling holes. Reliability is increased with no holes in the panels that may cause damage. Better heat transfer is provided in case of shading with diode in a separate compartment. The flaps (offered in different shoulder heights) protect the foils and the user, so it is a pure IEC & UL-approved 1500V solution. Due to the clamping and non-potted design, the installation is remarkably quick and no curing time delay of >6hrs applies.

Increased power handling by 2A is achieved with thermal pad design and reduced foil installation time with the lid and base angled (shaped) design. The box is available in E-W and N-S rail directions to cover all possible module layouts and provides waterproof protection.

Typical applications building-integrated photovoltaics panels, bifacial solar panels, and half cell solar panel.
