Synchronous step-down silent switchers deliver low EMI and high efficiency

Analog Devices LTC3310S Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switchers can provide up to 10A of output current from a 2.25V to 5.5V input supply. The Silent Switcher 2 architecture coupled with internal hot loop bypass capacitors deliver both low EMI and high efficiency at switching frequencies up to 5MHz. Multi-phasing parallel converters are easily implemented for systems with higher power requirements.

The switchers utilise a constant-frequency, peak current mode control architecture for fast transient responses. A 500mV reference provides for low voltage outputs, and a 100% duty cycle operation provides low drop out. Other options include a power good signal when the output is in regulation, precision allows threshold, output overvoltage protection, clock synchronisation, mode selection, thermal shutdown, a temperature monitor, and output short circuit protection.

The devices are offered in a compact 18-lead 3mm x 3mm LQFN package.

Typical applications include automotive, Industrial, Communications; Servers, Telecom Power Supplies; distributed DC Power Systems (POL); and FPGA, ASIC, µP Core Supplies.
