Texas Instruments DS90UB949A-Q1 2K HDMI-to-FPD-Link III Bridge Serializers provides one-lane or two-lane high-speed serial streams over cost-effective, 50Ohm single-ended coaxial, or 100hm differential STP and STQ cables when paired with the DS90UB940-Q1/DS90UB948-Q1. The device is able to serialise an HDMI v1.4b input to support video resolutions up to 2880x1080 at 60Hz with 24-bit colour depth.

The device interface supports both video and audio data transmissions, and full-duplex control over the same differential link, incorporating I2C and SPI communication. Video data consolidation and control over two differential pairs are able to help reduce the interconnect size, reduce the weight of the application, and simplify system design. The usage of low-voltage differential signalling, data scrambling, and randomisation reduces EMI. In backwards-compatible mode, the device supports up to 1920 x 720 resolution with 24-bit colour depth over a single differential link when paired with the DS90Ux92x-Q1 deserializers.

The device supports multi-channel audio acquired through an external I2S interface, with an optional auxiliary audio interface. The serializers are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.

Typical applications include automotive Infotainment and cluster, head unit, rear-seat entertainment display, centre information display, commercial vehicle instrument cluster, media hub, and audio/video control systems.
