Foremost Electronics now offers the availability of the icotek EMC-KVT-DS, claimed to be the world’s first split EMC cable gland for preassembled cables of thread size M32 which also gives IP54 protection for usage in extreme outdoor conditions.

The new gland is based on the standard icotek KVT product with an extra galvanised coating to produce a conductive surface. Uniquely featuring two cable grommets, the small KT is employed for strain relief and ingress protection up to IP54 on the cable jacket while the second small EMC-KT makes contact with the cable shield over a complete 360 degrees dependably diverting EMC disturbances via earthing produced by an EMC locknut.

Key features of the gland comprise use with pre-terminated cables as the connector does not need to be removed for assembly, integrated strain relief, 360-degree contact to the cable shield assures both conducted and field-bound EMC disturbances can be reliably diverted. The EMC grommets are made entirely from conductive elastomer, offer excellent dissipation values, with superior shielding effect regarding EMC tightness, have a scratch-resistant surface.

Alan Vincent, sales director of Foremost Electronics, comments: "icotek offer a very wide range of innovative cable access and EMC shielding products which greatly simplify system assembly for panel builders and integrators.”
