The Souriau 8STA series from Lane Motorsport, the motorsport division of Lane Electronics, are miniature circular connectors that are created to be smaller and lighter with high-reliability features to provide race performance and driver safety.

According to Pete Costin at Lane Motorsport, these devices are among the smallest and lightest circular connectors of their type available and claimed to be the preferred connectors over the world of competitive motorsport for sensors and electronics systems in applications including engine management, data acquisition, steering wheels, telemetry, fuel tanks and hybrid energy recovery systems.

The rugged aluminium body is plated with ROHS compliant conductive black zinc as standard. The 8STA connectors are derived from international defence specifications MIL-DTL-38999 and Eurofighter JN1003. Consequently, they are created to endure the high levels of shock and vibration that are found in motorsport.

When mated, the connector satisfies the demands of IP67 and can endure salt spray and many types of fluids including those seen across motorsport platforms. Glass-to-metal sealed hermetic receptacles and feedthroughs complete the range with specific fuel tank versions for long-term fuel immersion.
