Proximity sensing EVM supports component needs for ultrasonic sensor signal conditioner

Texas Instruments PGA460PSM-EVM Proximity-Sensing EVM is a small-form-factor solution showcasing double-sided PCB spacing and the supporting component requirements for the PGA460. The PGA460 is an ultrasonic sensor signal conditioner. This hardware device can only be operated in monostatic transducer mode. Monostatic transducer mode uses a single transducer to transmit and receive the ultrasonic echo.

As the device operates exclusively as a slave device, a master controller or processor device is needed to configure and run the PGA460. The user's guide for this EVM concentrates on the master device, and only utilises the MSP-EXP430F5529LP as an example master device for demonstration purposes when paired with the BOOSTXL-PGA460 evaluation module. The company recommends that users evaluate the performance of the PGA460 first utilising the PGA460-Q1 evaluation module GUI software, along with the BOOSTXL-PGA460 and MSP-EXP430F5529LP to become familiar with the device features. The user can then advance to the PGA460PSM-EVM once transducer selection and optimisation have been achieved.
