Power Integrations has released a suite of offline switcher ICs incorporating 900V primary MOSFETs. The newly released devices comprise ICs for high-efficiency isolated flyback power supplies and simple non-isolated buck converters. Targeted applications comprise three-phase industrial power supplies up to 480VAC, and high-quality consumer products intended for regions with unstable mains grids, tropical regions with frequent lightning strikes or any area where high-energy ring-waves and surges are common.
The new products comprise 900V versions of the LinkSwitch-TN2 ICs for simple, non-isolated buck converters as well as three new members of the flagship InnoSwitch3-EP IC family, which allow extremely high-efficiency isolated flybacks up to 35W. All members of the 900V product families offer internal control engines optimised for high efficiency across the load, enabling designs to easily meet ErP limits, and a mixture of line and load protection mechanisms to additional enhance system robustness and reliability.
