Low profile SMT automotive antennas deliver optimum performance

Available from TTI Europe are new low profile SMT automotive antennas from AVX/Ethertronics that provide best-in-class RF performance and give global coverage. The antennas support various worldwide frequency bands and assure excellent performance, yet utilise minimal PCB real estate. These automotive antennas offer broadband coverage across 4G/LTE, 3G, GPS, WiFi, V2X or BT networks, with turning capabilities to achieve optimised performance.

This Universal Broadband Embedded LTE/LPWA antenna uses Isolated Magnetic Dipole technology, which offers superior RF field containment and less interference or reaction with surrounding components, crucial in the electronically-busy automotive environment. The devices resist detuning and sustain a reliable radio link regardless of usage position. Peak gain over different frequencies are 689-960MHz 2.6dBi; 1710-2200MHz – 4.4dBi, and 2500-2700MHz - 3.4dBi. The devices use a very small PCB footprint of only 49.6mm x 8mm x 3.2mm.

The companies' Wi-Fi/BT/Zigbee ceramic chip antenna also provides the advantages of IMD technology, allowing design engineers to offer the key demands of high functionality and superior performance in smaller, thinner designs. Measuring only 2mm x 1.2mm x 0.5mm, it operates over the 2400-2485MHz frequency with a peak gain of 1.88dBi.

Created to be mechanically robust to resist the rigours of automotive applications, the devices are TS certified and supplied on tape and reel for automated high-volume manufacturing.
