Automotive - P-Channel MOSFETs use 50% less mounting area

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced new -30V and -40V automotive grade p-channel TrenchFET power MOSFETs in the PowerPAK SO-8L package with gullwing leads for improved board-level reliability. Giving more than a 50% reduction in mounting area compared to devices in the DPAK, the AEC-Q101 qualified SQJ407EP and SQJ409EP lower costs and saves PCB space while offering lower on-resistance than any MOSFET with gullwing leads in the 5mm x 6mm footprint. Due to the devices high power demands, motor drives and main power supplies in 12V automotive systems need MOSFETs with extremely low on-resistance for uses such as reverse polarity battery protection and high side switching. With on-resistance down to 4.4mOhm and 7mOhm at 10V, respectively, the Vishay Siliconix -30V SQJ407EP and -40V SQJ409EP are created to satisfy this need. Furthermore, as p-channel MOSFETs, these devices are ideal load switches that do not need a charge pump to give the positive gate bias required by their n-channel counterparts. The MOSFETs provide high-temperature operation to +175C, while their gullwing leads offer mechanical stress relief during temperature cycling, vibration, board flexing, and drop incidents, and give excellent board-level reliability compared to rigid QFN packages. The gullwing leads also promote more consistent and dependable results from AOI processes. Lead (Pb)-free, halogen-free, and RoHS-compliant, the devices are 100% Rg, and UIS tested.
