Power line choke’s rated voltage increased threefold

16-02-2017 | Wurth | Power

A rated voltage three times higher than the voltage of the existing family of WE-CMB chokes – this is the outstanding feature of the current-compensated power line chokes of the WE-CMB HV series offered by Würth Elektronik. The company has designed these new common mode chokes for network applications with alternating voltages of up to 760V. Aside from the power electronics application area, the WE-CMB HV series is also designed for use in input and output filters and for motor interference suppression. The threefold higher rated voltage offered by the WE-CMB HV products, compared with the regular series of power line chokes, was made possible by doubling the clearance and creepage distances. A new plastic casing and an improved separating strip enable an insulation voltage of 3,000VAC to be achieved. All insulation materials used in these products are UL94-V0 listed. The new series is compatible with the grid designs of the existing WE-CMB and WE-CMB-NC series. The WE-CMB HV design is available in the versions XL and XXL.
