Automobile manufactures are designing decentralised, distributed systems connected through industry interface standards. ON Semiconductor offers an innovative in-vehicle portfolio, including LIN and CAN transceivers, that are available from Digi-Key. The company also offers system basis chips that integrate transceivers with other circuits including voltage regulators, drivers, and supervisory functions.
LIN transceivers bus communicates low-rate (up to 20 kBd) data from control devices such as door locks, mirrors, car seats, and sunroofs. The LIN bus protocol uses only a single wire in each node, minimising wiring costs. The company offers devices for both US (SAE J2602-2) and European (LIN physical layer specification Rev. 2.x) standards.
The latest generation CAN transceivers exhibit industry-leading performance on electromagnetic capabilities (ESD and EMI). These devices are designed in the company’s proven, innovative I3T technology that delivers highly robust, high-quality components with failure rates measured in parts-per-billion.
