Mouser is now stocking the STM32F7 series 32-bit microcontrollers and the STM32F746G Discovery Kit from STMicroelectronics (ST). With ST’s ART Accelerator as well as an L1 cache, the STM32F7 devices deliver the maximum theoretical performance of the ARM Cortex M7, whether code is executed from embedded Flash or external memory, says the company. The new discovery kit provides an easy to use development platform for the ST STM32F7 series of very high-performance microcontrollers, and comes with the STM32Cube software tool and a full set of demo software libraries for reduced development efforts, time, and cost. STM32F746 series microcontrollers are based on the ARM Cortex M7 core with a floating point unit (FPU), which supports all ARM single-precision data-processing instructions and data types. They feature up to 1MByte of Flash, 320KB of SRAM (including 64KB of data TCM RAM), three 12 bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), and two digital-to-analog converters (DACs). Interface options include USART, I2C, SPI/I2S, USB OTG FS, HS, CAN, and SD/MMC. The STM32F746G Discovery Kit includes an onboard LCD-TFT display with capacitive touch screen and Arduino Uno Rev3 connectors, offering everything required for both beginners and experienced developers to quickly get started developing applications for STM32F7 microcontrollers. The full range of hardware features on the board helps designers to evaluate almost all of the microcontroller’s peripherals, including MEMS digital microphones, SPDIF RCA input, and the 4.3 inch colour LCD-TFT screen. The board also features two micro-USB jacks, MicroSD card connector, RJ45 connector, and 3.5mm audio input and output. The integrated ST-LINK/V2-1 via mini-USB connector provides an embedded in-circuit debugger and programmer for the STM32F746 microcontroller. The board also supports software development with ARM mbed. The STM32F746G Discovery Kit make it ideal for home audio, motor control, security, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications, says the company.
