The Avalue Technology ECM-BYT 3.5-inch SBC is now available from Display Solutions. Available powered by the Intel Celeron K1900 or Atom E3845 quad-core processor, the ECM-BYT micro module is suitable for intelligent systems and applications with low power consumption, high performance and fanless operation requirements. The SBC is suitable for designing media players, embedded computer systems and digital signage systems from the ground up, in a wide range of applications, including kiosks, vending machines, entry-level POS and ATMs, retail, medical and security. "A key feature to the ECM-BYT is that, in addition to it being available with a standard operating temperature range of between 0 and +60C, there is a version available for extended temperatures from -40C to +85C," said Brendan O'Reilly, account manager at Display Solutions. "This wide temperature support opens up a whole raft of intense, industrial applications, such as those found in the rail and automotive industries." The wide temperature version of the ECM-BYT supports one 204-pin DDR3L SODIMM system memory with up to 8GB DDR3L 1066/1333 SDRAM capacity. It supports dual display and 2-channel LVDS, CRT and HDMI configurations. The rich I/O includes 1x SATA II, 1x miniPCIe, 1x USB 3.0, 5x USB 2.0, 4x COMs (1x RS232 and 3x RS232/422/485) and 8-bit DIO (GPIO) giving system integrators flexibility in developing a variety of embedded applications. The board also features an HD audio jack powered by a Realtek ALC892 chipset that supports 5.1 channel audio and two Intel I210AT Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Compatible with Windows 8 and 7, as well as Linux, the ECM-BYT carries the CE mark and conforms to FCC-B, says the company.
