Automotive fuses for high voltages

24-09-2025 | Schurter | Passives

SCHURTER now offers the new ADO series. The device is a fuse with a rated current range of 10A to 63A and a maximum operating current of 40A at 1000VDC. It is designed for applications in direct current systems up to 1000VDC and is especially suited for use in EVs.

The fuse has a fast-tripping characteristic, a high current-carrying capacity, and good vibration resistance. The series is UL-certified. Technological features, including a patented filler formulation and specialised curing processes, ensure safe arc extinguishing and prevent secondary arcing.

A total of four mounting options are supplied in the fuse family. In addition to a conventional variant for PCB assembly, there are three for screw mounting. The screw variants provide a firm, mechanical fit even in the event of strong vibrations. They are also excellent for applications where high currents flow, as the contact resistance is low. The screw variant also provides advantages in terms of maintenance (can be replaced after tripping).

The new ADO fuse family has been specifically developed for automotive sector applications. The possible applications are very diverse. These include BMS, OBC, DC-DC converters, air conditioning compressors, and PTC heating systems, as well as various control systems (e.g. motor control).
