New one-stage filter for three-phase systems

Rutronik now offers a new three-phase filter series for DIN rail mounting, FPAC RAIL from Schurter. The slim housing, measuring just 44mm in width, needs minimal space on the mounting rail in the control cabinet. The single-stage filter is available in standard or high-attenuation (High Performance: HP) versions. A metal base plate ensures exceptional grounding to the rail. The series impresses above all with its low leakage current of just 1.3mA.

One challenge in control cabinets for industrial applications in the three-phase range, such as motor drives or control systems, is the space required for components. The series handles this problem with a completely new filter design. The new single-stage filter series is constructed with a PCB in a plastic housing. It has screw terminals for the three phases and a terminal on the metal base plate for optimum ground connection to the rail.

In the standard version with ferrite cores, the new filters achieve very good attenuation characteristics of up to 85 dB, which is already significantly (10-15%) better than comparable alternatives. With the optional HP version by using nanocrystalline cores, the attenuation performance in the frequency range of 10-300kHz can be increased by up to a further 8dB.

All 16 variants can be used at temperatures ranging from -40C to +100C. The filters are designed for currents from 3A to 32A at a maximum of 520VAC, in accordance with IEC and UL standards. They are ENEC and cURus certified and are appropriate for applications in accordance with IEC 62368-1.

Typical application examples include:

  • Three-phase industrial applications in control cabinets
  • Devices according to IEC/UL 62368-1
  • Devices with high EMC loads (switching power supplies, converters, etc.) such as industrial or machine controls, laboratory technology, telecommunications technology, and IT devices.
