Bourns, Inc. has released a new single-channel basic insulation transformer with a planar structure optimised for BMS applications. Bourns Model SM91801AL is the next ‘first to market’ BMS signal planar transformer product. It has been engineered and is developed for use with several prominent semiconductor supplier IC series, including Analog Device Model LTC6815 Series, NXP Model MC33771C Series and Texas Instruments Model BQ79616 ICs that are primarily used in multi-cell battery monitoring designs.

The latest BMS planar signal transformer is AEC-Q200 compliant and automotive grade. It features a basic insulation layer that complies with IEC 60664-1 and IEC 62368-1 standards and is manufactured employing a fully automated process to deliver a high-quality and cost-effective solution for next-generation applications. This transformer delivers a working voltage of up to 1000VDC and a Hi-Pot isolation voltage of up to 4300VDC or 2500VAC with an extended operating temperature range of -40C to +125C.

The device is available now and is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free.
